From the birth of the Tinga Tinga around 1960, by an artist of the same name in Dar es Salaam, many visitors to Tanzania have enjoyed the cheerful depictions of cartoon-like animals recognizable in this style of painting.  In the village of Tengeru, 10 minutes drive from Arusha town, Abidi Mohamedi and Rubbeya Juma have perfected their art and operate an art studio for Tinga Tinga painting.  Both of these artists began to paint in Tinga Tinga style from an early age and have truly excelled, obtaining acclaim and recognition for their creations all over East Africa.

All paintings are unstretched and hand painted with latex paint on linen.

The Tanzanian Educational Foundation is committed to creating hope for a brighter future for young Tanzanians by providing them with the means for a better education.

All of our proceeds from the sale of these paintings go to sponsor the students of Meru Peak Day School, a small school in Tengeru Village outside Arusha, Tanzania. These funds allow us to provide such basic needs as porridge, milk, writing utensils, and books. We are also able to offer scholarships to some of those students so that they may continue their education. The scholarships pay for uniforms, school tuition, and any other assistance they may need. We greatly appreciate your purchase from our foundation and any donations you may contribute.

Many Thanks from our board of directors,

Nicole Miller, Erica Oblinger, Colin Forbes, and Jay Cone.
